About Us
The story behind the NICU Mums Club...
Hi, I'm Ashley.
After 4 rounds of IVF I finally got pregnant and was expecting twins!
At just 24 weeks I went into spontaneous labour and immediately assumed the worse.
After a 12 and a half hour labour with just gas and air our first born, Esme, was born sleeping weighing just 670g but still perfectly formed and beautiful.
Our second daughter was born 50 minutes later. Isla was just 655g and just as beautiful and perfect as her sister.
From that day she has fought hard to show and teach us our purpose in life! To give back to others!
Thanks to Isla’s strength and courage we have dedicated our lives to helping those that helped us through our darkest days.

When Isla was first transferred to the Royal London Hospital we had lots of family and friends asking how she was doing and we found it hard to reply to everyone.
It was then I decided to create a secret group to update everyone daily with pictures and events of the day. We followed this through up until day 200 when we created the Facebook page- Isla's Journey- this not only documented her daily adventures and milestones but also our aspirations to help others.
Now a registered charity, we have helped thousands of families throughout their NICU journeys and proudly support many NICU units across the UK.
We hope, with the help of others, that we can grow into a well known national charity, to help support families when they need it most.

Why the NICU Mums Club
Hi Mums, and welcome to The NICU Mums Club.
If you’re here, it probably means you’ve found yourself on the NICU journey – something none of us ever expect to face. I know how overwhelming, lonely, and exhausting it can feel. The machines, the medical language, the endless worry… it’s a world that can be so hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t lived it.
That’s why I started this space. I wanted somewhere for mums like us to come together – to feel less alone, to find comfort in shared stories, and to make friendships with people who truly get it. Whether you’re sitting by an incubator right now, or adjusting to life at home after discharge, this club is here for you.
Here you’ll find:
-
Friendship – a circle of mums who understand the highs, lows, and everything in between.
-
Support – a place to talk openly, cry if you need to, and celebrate the small wins that mean so much.
-
Helpful info – tips and resources I wish I’d had during my own NICU days, to make the journey a little easier.
The truth is, NICU changes you. But it also connects us – mums with a strength we never knew we had. My hope is that this club becomes a safe haven for you, where you can find understanding, encouragement, and maybe even a lifelong friend or two.
You don’t have to walk this path alone. We’re in this together. 💜
With love,
Another NICU Mum xx
